Latest news on the READ project

On the 11th of July partners of the “Reading for Emotional and Academic Development” project, which in short is called READ (Project’s number is: 2023-1-PL01-KA220-SCH-000156235), met online to discuss the project’s progress and its next steps. After completing successfully, the “Good Practices Booklet”, which is the first result of the second work package, partners are moving towards the third work package.  A special emphasis was placed on it during this online meeting and more concrete on the READ project training content, which will be the second result.

In detail, the general objective of the third work package is to create a dual–layer training content for pupils, supporting the social and emotional well-being of students aged 8 to 11 years old. The starting point will be the selection of reading content. That is to say a selection of stories and characters that model healthy and positive behaviours. Then, the development of the exercises will follow. When all these are ready, the Local Living Labs will take place in each partner’s country.

In the meanwhile, Eurospeak has already proofread the first draft of the three levels of the “Diary of Emotions”: the Lowest, the Middle and the Higher Level. These are all part of the Book Club Journal, which is a tool designed to accompany students’ educational journey through reading in a collaborative and reflective manner. It’s a companion meant to enrich students’ reading experience and foster deeper connections with both the story and fellow readers. In its pages, the reader can find prompts, exercises and spaces to jot down thoughts, emotions and insights. Upon its finalisation, we will be able to share it with all of you.

Returning to the agenda of that online meeting, managerial issues couldn’t be omitted and they were discussed thoroughly. The upcoming implementation meeting in Greece, in the Southwest of Peloponnese, in the beautiful seaside town of Kalamata drew the partners’ attention. This will be the second time partners will meet face-to-face. The first time was in February 2024, when partners met in Ruse, Bulgaria for the Kick-off meeting of the READ project. This time, two representatives per partner organisation will travel to Greece at the beginning of September to meet in Kalamata, the city of the host organisation, which is Areadne Lifelong Learning Centre. an adult training organisation focusing on trainer training and professional education.

The meeting will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2024 and all partners are looking forward to it! For more news, stay tuned!
