Multiplier Event – Storytelling for Europe

Storytelling for Europe - Eurospeak Ireland Hosts Successful Storytelling Event at CPC Kilcullen College

The Storytelling for Europe project aims to promote storytelling as an innovative method for developing young people’s linguistic, digital, civic, and social competences across both formal and non-formal education settings. It is a collaborative initiative involving organisations from the Czech Republic (Caritas Česká republika), Ireland (Eurospeak Ireland), Spain (Marta Mas Languages), and Slovakia (EDUMA).

As part of this international effort, a multiplier event – Storytelling for Europe was held in Ireland to introduce the project’s resources and engage participants in creative, peer-led learning experiences.

Event Overview

Date: 5th November
Location: CPC Kilcullen College, Ireland
Participants: 81 local students and educators

The event at CPC Kilcullen College provided a practical introduction to key project tools and methods. Students and teachers took part in interactive workshops designed to explore storytelling as a means of communication, reflection, and educational engagement.

A highlight of the event was the introduction and hands-on use of Eduma cards, an engaging resource designed to encourage storytelling and peer-to-peer learning. Both students and educators explored how these can be applied in various learning contexts to foster empathy, collaboration, and expression.

Project Results Presented at the Multiplier Event – Storytelling for Europe

Participants were introduced to the project’s main outputs:

  • A live demonstration of the Online Living Library, showcasing personal stories from across Europe in an accessible, multilingual digital format.
  • The e-learning platform for educators, offering guidance and resources to integrate storytelling into their teaching.
  • Practical sessions using Eduma cards, highlighting their use in stimulating discussion and creative thinking.

These resources reflect the project’s broader aims, including technological innovation, increased language accessibility, and the development of new content such as audio-recorded stories and translated educational materials. Notably, many of the story translations were completed by students, giving them the opportunity to enhance their language and digital skills while exploring themes of critical thinking and social awareness.
