EU-Funded KIDLE Project Empowers Ukrainian Families in Dublin Through Education
As part of the EU-funded KIDLE Project, Eurospeak hosted an impactful focus group and workshop on June 5th at the New Communities Partnership (NCP) in Dublin, a dedicated organization supporting Ukrainian communities in Ireland. This initiative united eight Ukrainian parents and seven children to engage in conversations surrounding cultural integration, educational support, and family-centred learning dynamics, fostering a supportive environment for newcomers navigating the challenges of resettlement.
Focus Group Insights on the Educational Needs of Ukrainian Families in Dublin
The focus group provided crucial insights into the specific educational and cultural needs of Ukrainian families in Dublin. Parents and children openly shared their experiences, highlighting the importance of cultural integration in creating a sense of belonging and the challenges they face in adapting to Ireland’s education system. These discussions were essential for developing an intercultural board game designed to make learning more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for both children and their parents.
Collaborative Workshop: Developing an Inclusive, Educational Board Game
During the hands-on workshop, children were introduced to the board game’s educational objectives and invited to contribute creative ideas to make it engaging and relatable. They collaborated with parents, exploring themes of cultural heritage, language, and social dynamics, establishing key elements, objectives, and rules for the game. By the end of the session, parents and children had built a strong foundation for an interactive game that not only supported educational development but also celebrated diverse perspectives.
