Empowering Migrants Through Lifelong Learning Events

The 3L Mindset Project successfully advanced inclusive adult education practices across Europe. By promoting a growth mindset and providing practical resources, the project empowered both educators and learners to engage more effectively in lifelong learning. The collaborative efforts of Austria, Ireland, Slovenia, and Spain have laid a strong foundation for future innovations in adult education and migrant integration. The sustained application of project outcomes ensures a long-term impact on educational methodologies, policy advocacy, and professional development.

Introduction:

EUROSPEAK conducted three Multiplier events as part of the 3L Mindset initiative, aimed at supporting low-skilled adults with a migration background through lifelong learning approaches. The target group of these events included:
• Adult Education Teachers
• Managers of Adult Education Institutions and Other Policy Makers
The three events took place at different locations and involved participants from educational and migrant-support backgrounds. This report summarises participant feedback gathered through evaluation forms completed by 37 out of 40 attendees.

Event Details:
• Trinity College (27th November 2024): 5 participants
• Blackrock Further Education Institute – BFEI (30th January 2025): 22 participants
• UCCI/ Ukranian Chrisis Centre Ireland (31st January 2025): 13 participants

  1. Overall Experience Rating: Participants were asked to rate their overall experience on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the highest).
    • Average Rating: 4.78/5
    • Responses:
    o 4: 6 participants
    o 5: 31 participants

Participants generally expressed a high level of satisfaction with the event, with 84% giving a perfect rating of 5.

  1. Quality of Presentations and Workshops: Participants rated the quality of the presentations and workshops on a scale of 1 to 5.
    • Average Rating: 4.76/5
    • Responses:
    o 4: 6 participants
    o 5: 31 participants
    The majority of participants found the presentations and workshops to be of high quality, particularly appreciating the blend of practical and theoretical content.
  2. Organisation of the Event: Participants evaluated the organisation of the event, including communication, scheduling, venue, and logistics.
    • Average Rating: 4.81/5
    • Responses:
    o 4: 6 participants
    o 5: 31 participants
    The event’s organisation was well-received, with participants highlighting clear communication and well-structured sessions.
  3. Most Appealing Aspects of the Workshops and Presentations: Participants shared specific elements they found most engaging:
    • The educational platform and digital tools.
    • Interactive workshops and hands-on activities.
    • Practical strategies for supporting migrant learners.
    • The focus on growth mindset and mental resilience.
    • Personal stories shared by presenters.
    • Real-life case studies relevant to migrant education.
    • Inclusive teaching strategies for diverse learners.
  4. New Contacts and Ideas: Participants were asked if the event allowed them to create new contacts or gain new ideas related to lifelong learning or educational approaches.
    • Yes: 31 participants
    • No: 6 participants Comments included:
    • “I connected with fellow educators and shared new strategies for working with migrant populations.”
    • “I learned about new approaches to motivate migrant learners.”
    • “The event opened up opportunities to engage with experts in the field of education.”
  5. Relevance and Helpfulness of Content: Participants rated how relevant and helpful they found the content in addressing the needs of low-skilled adults with a migration background.
    • Average Rating: 4.7/5
    • Responses:
    o 3: 1 participant
    o 4: 6 participants
    o 5: 30 participants
    Feedback suggests the content was highly relevant, particularly in providing practical resources and strategies to better support migrant learners.
  6. Suggestions for Future Events: Participants provided the following suggestions to enhance future events:
    • More interactive sessions and hands-on activities.
    • Translation of materials into Ukrainian and other languages.
    • Greater focus on trauma-sensitive teaching practices.
    • More digital tools for supporting migrant learners.
    • Workshops on conflict resolution in multicultural classrooms.
    • Collaboration with local communities to support migrant learners.
  7. Previous Participation in Similar Events: Participants were asked if they had attended similar events related to lifelong learning:
    • Yes: 23 participants
    • No: 14 participants

Comparison Feedback:

• Participants who attended similar events appreciated the stronger focus on migrant education and practical applications.
• New attendees found the event informative and useful, especially the hands-on activities and real-world insights.

Conclusion:

The EUROSPEAK Multiplier events were highly successful, with participants providing overwhelmingly positive feedback on the quality of the presentations, the organisation, and the relevance of the content. Attendees valued the opportunity to engage with practical tools and resources while connecting with other professionals in the field.
Suggestions for future events included more interactivity, language accessibility, and focused topics such as trauma-sensitive practices and community collaboration.
The insights gathered from these evaluation forms will guide future initiatives to further support low-skilled adults with a migration background and enhance lifelong learning opportunities across diverse communities.
