KiDLE project goes digital! After several months of hard works, partners have managed to digitise the gaming pack. The platform is now ready and available for students, parents and teachers online here. There are 5 online games that you can play, which are listed below:
1. Friends
2. The Journey
3. Togetherland
4. Space inclusion and
5. Better together
They have been developed by the partners working in the KiDLE project. In this article, we will focus on the first game: “Friends” which has been developed by Eurospeak. It can be played from students aged 4+ with their friends, but of course their parents and teachers are more than welcome to join and have fun!
Before delving into the “Friends” game, let’s watch the tutorial video below on “How to use KiDLE’s platform” that will help you avoid encountering any technical issues:
How to play the “Friends” game”
Hello, adventurer! Get ready for a super fun trip around the world, right from your home. You’ll
start in chilly Antarctica and meet new friends everywhere you go!
● Who can play? 2 to 6 friends
● How old? 4 years and up
● How long? About 20 to 60 minutes
Let’s get you ready to play online. It’s as easy as 1-2-3!
Step 1: Get to the Game
- Grab a computer, tablet, or phone.
- Go to the game’s website. (You can ask a grown-up to help you find the link!)
- Look for the big “Play Game” button and give it a click!
Now you have a choice: Do you want to join a friend’s game or start a new one?
To Join a Friend’s Game:
- Look for a list of games. You should see your friend’s game name.
- Don’t see it? Click the “Refresh” button (it might look like an arrow in a circle 🔄) to
check again. - Found it? Great! Click the “Join” button right next to it. You’re in!
To Start a NEW Game:
- Click the “Create a Game” button.
- A new box will pop up. In the box, type a fun name for your game room.
- Choose how many friends are playing with you (between 2 and 6).
- Want your game to be a secret, just for your friends? Click the “Secret Game” button.
This will hide it from people you don’t know. - Click the final “Create” button. Your game room is now open!
Step 2: Everyone Gets Ready
- The game will ask for your name. Type the name you want your friends to see.
- Now, wait for your friends to join. You will see their names pop up on the screen.
- Is everyone here? Awesome! The person who created the game can click the “Start
Game” button.
The adventure begins in Antarctica! Look, everyone’s game piece is at the start line.
Step 3: It’s Your Turn!
● Magic Dice: The game rolls the dice for you! You don’t have to click anything. Just
watch.
● Move Your Piece: See the number on the dice? Your game piece will hop forward that
many spaces all by itself.
● Get a Card: Every spot you land on gives you a special card. Let’s see what they do!
Step 4: Cool Cards
You’ll find three kinds of cards.
Learning Cards (They have rainbow colors!)
These cards teach you amazing facts.
● Culture: Learn how people in other countries live, play, and celebrate!
● Food: Discover yummy new foods from all over the world.
● Language: Hear how to say words in a new language. Read or listen to the fun fact,
then click “Okay!” to finish your turn.
Action Cards (White with a penguin on them!)
These cards ask you to do something silly and fun.
● The card might say, “Wave to your friends!” or “Spin in a circle!”
● Do the action, and you earn a heart point. ❤ Hearts are for friendship!
Holiday Card (Looks like a sunny beach!)
You landed on a holiday!
● This is a rest stop. You don’t have to do anything. Just relax and wait for your next turn.
Step 5: How You Win
In this game, there are two ways to be a winner!
- The Race Winner: The first person to get their game piece to the finish line wins the
race! 🏆 - The Friendship Winner: The person who has the most heart points ❤ at the end of the
game is the friendship winner!
When the game is over, you can click “New Game” to play again!
Extra Tips
● Need to take a break? The game will remember where you were.
● You want to play it in your language, click on the languages button on top and select the
language you want to play in.
