Recognizing this, initiatives such as the SKILLS UP project have emerged with a dual aim: the need to strengthen the key skills of adults in languages and computer science as well as to provide educators with the necessary resources, skills, and knowledge to facilitate students’ digital learning.
The SKILLS UP initiative takes into account the changing demands of a modern adult student by devising separate programs aimed at taking language skills and digital proficiency to the next level. The situation is that this protagonist of the contemporary career, adults who are looking for either to return to the workforce or seek career advancement opportunities, emphasizes these skills. Mastery of language tools, such as expertise in languages beyond their mother tongue is capital in the job market and enables people to better operate in a global economy.
