Latest news on the TouRural project

What an efficient meeting it was in Slovakia for the TouRural project! 10 participants from all partner organisations attended it: 3 from the host Europea Slovakia, 2 from Lueteb from Italy, 2 from Eurospeak Limited from Ireland, 2 from Europea Polska from Poland, and 1 from VAEV from Austria.

Upon the arrival of participants on Friday the 27th of January 2023, partners had the chance to have a common dinner all together and meet for the first time. The next day partners discussed all managerial and financial issues stated on the agenda and set deadlines for the next tasks that needed to be done. The research phase of the Rural Tourism Business Guide is almost at its end and each partner will focus on the case studies on the topics that were agreed upon during the meeting.

In the evening when it was still daylight, the partners visited the Cachtice Castle, which is located in the nearby village of Cachtice. Everything was white there because of the snow, but despite the cold temperatures, the partners listened carefully to the tour guide, who narrated the story of this castle and its Countess, Elizabeth Bathory. The Tourural project partners walked on the ruins of the castle and also showed part of the interior, which is well preserved and serves as a museum.

At night partners visited a vivid example of rural tourism in Povazany and had dinner all together there. Mr Pavol Jambor, who is the owner of a Penzion, a Pizzeria, a Beer Brewery and some Greenhouses, all located in Povazany, Slovakia, talked about his project idea to partners. Mr Jambor presented, in brief, the situation of rural tourism in the area of Povazany and informed partners about its specific needs and demands. Summing up, he shared his experience, inspirations, and ideas from different European regions and offered a unique “wine-tour” experience to partners in the part of the cellar where the wine barrels are stored. In between wine tasting and discussion about the production of different types of wine, experiential learning occurred, and all partners felt grateful for this unique tasting experience!

The TouRural project partners will meet again in Italy in September 2023, where the training of the Torural project will take place. The TouRural training will be hosted by the Italian partner, LUETEB.
