Gamification Activities and Methods for the Elderly’s Support – Our new Erasmus+ initiative on Adult Education!

In a digital age dominated by advanced technology, the potential of gamification to enhance various aspects of our lives is becoming increasingly evident. Recognizing the transformative power of gamified solutions, the “Gamification Activities and Methods for the Elderly’s Support” project has recently been launched, under the funding of the Erasmus+ programme. This innovative initiative aims to understand older adults’ perceptions of technology to assist them by introducing to this population and maximise the potential of technology to facilitate independent living.  

The main objectives of the “Gamification Activities and Methods for the Elderly’s Support” project is:  

  • To equip the older members of our society with the skills needed to use technology and ICT in order to make easier their lives; 
  • Introduce educational research on use of Gamification for Adult Education; 
  • Provide elderly people with early exposure to digital skills and computational thinking; 
  • To reach the inclusion of elderly people through the use of ICT for everyday life; 

The “Gamification Activities and Methods for the Elderly’s Support” project is a collaborative effort between multiple organizations and institutions across Europe. Professionals from nine different organizations will work together to pool their expertise and knowledge, ensuring the successful implementation of the project’s objectives. 

The project’s outcomes hold great potential for transforming elderly care. By leveraging gamification, the project aims to produce the following: 

  1. Toolkit: A complete document of at 120 pages included analysis regarding Adult and non-formal education situation in the partner countries and policies implemented in regional, national and international levels, as well as a wide selection of tools and methods on digital technology and its usage by elderly citizens. 
  1. Policy Recommendations: A document will be produced, containing policy recommendations regarding how to increase the level of community engagement of Adult Education. 

The launch of the “Gamification Activities and Methods for the Elderly’s Support” project marks an important step towards revolutionizing elderly care. By harnessing the power of gamification, this innovative initiative aims to enhance the lives of seniors, promoting cognitive stimulation, and digital skills. The outcomes of this project hold the promise of creating a more inclusive and engaging environment for elderly individuals across Europe, ultimately improving their skills and quality of life.
