“READ project: A 2-year journey comes to close!”

Once upon a time…

It was back in October 2023 when the READ project (Project’s number: 2023-1-PL01-KA220-SCH-000156235) started its journey. 8 partners from 6 different countries joined forces to achieve its objectives. We have introduced READ’s partnership in detail and communicated what it aimed to achieve in our first article which was published in January 2024 and you can read it here. Today this journey comes to an end, but let’s sum up what has been done during the 2 years of the project’s implementation.

Transnational Project Meetings

Partners had the chance to meet online several times and to meet face-to-face 3 times as follows:

  • They met for the first time in Ruse, in Bulgaria in February 2024. This Kick-off meeting was hosted by the Regional Library Ruse.
  • Partners met again for the second time in Kalamata, in Greece, in September 2024. This TPM was hosted by Areadne Lifelong Learning Centre.
  • Lastly, partners met in Dublin, in Ireland, in July 2025 for the third project’s implementation meeting that was hosted by Eurospeak. You can read more about it in this article we had published then.

Various READ related events in Ireland

In all partner countries (Poland, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia and Slovakia) took place various events related to the READ project, as well as in Ireland. Here we will focus only on the events that were organised by Eurospeak in Ireland.

The first event in November 2024 was an online workshop with 5 teachers and experts from the areas of Bundoran and Donegal in Ireland. The next month, in December 2024 the Local Living Lab took place in Ireland involving students and teachers from the Glebe National School. Then in May and June 2025 the Piloting of the READ’s training programme in Irish schools took place. 11 teachers and 42 students took part in it from KCCP in Dublin and GNS in Donegal.

Last but not least, towards the end of June and July two local events took place in Dublin and in Fingal involving two different libraries

One teacher training activity in Kosice, in Slovakia

17 participants from Poland, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ireland had the chance to attend the teacher training activity of the READ project in the beautiful Kosice of Slovakia. This training was hosted by Flexskill and you can read more about it here.

READ’s website with all the results

All in all, whatever has been developed during these two years of the “Reading for Emotional and Academic Development”, known in brief as READ project can be found on project’s detailed website here. The project’s results are available in 6 languages: English, Polish, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Slovakian and Greek.

Conclusion

Concluding, as partners of the READ project we are very happy and glad to see that our hard work has planted seeds of loving reading into children and has further motivated their teachers to approach reading from an emotional perspective. Libraries from partner countries that were involved throughout the project supported READ’s objectives and promoted bibliotherapy a lot!
