The ICTM training in Bursa!

Almost a month has passed since the ICTM training learning teaching activity of the ICT for Migrants project (Project number: 2022-3-FR02-KA210-YOU-000048687) took place in Bursa, Turkey. The host was the Turkish partner, KEPDER, who warmly welcomed participants in Bursa and managed to organise everything excellently!

The training titled: “Empowering Young Migrants, ICT for Migrants” lasted for three days from the 20th to the 22nd of March 2024. It was held at KEPDER’s headquarters, known as Karaman Dernekler Yerleşkesi. In total, 16 participants attended this ICTM training, four per partner organisation: 4 from EU HUMAN ACT from France, 4 from EGESTIONPYME from Spain, 4 from Eurospeak from Ireland and of course 4 from the host, KEPDER. They were youth workers, youth leaders and volunteers, all dealing with migrants directly or indirectly.

During these three days, participants first had the chance to get to know the project’s goals, presented by the coordinator EU HUMAN ACT. Second, Eurospeak presented them with strategies for engaging young migrants in dialogue and learning, while Egestionpyme focused on practical guidance on applying learned communicative strategies. Each presentation was followed by an interactive workshop on communicative strategies and implementation tips, accordingly. Workshops made participants get actively involved in the learning process and efficiently gain knowledge.

A visit to a local stakeholder association working with migrants from Ukraine, the ‘’Bursa Ukraynalılar Derneği’’, provided participants with important insight into real-life situations. It was a very good introduction to KEPDER’s presentation on sharing success stories and experiences across Europe and the workshop that followed on that topic. On the last day, the EU HUMAN ACT organised the concluding workshop with key takeaways and constructive feedback.

Apart from the main agenda, participants had the chance to get closer to the local life in Bursa and know the city a bit more. The first night a common social dinner with local food and dance, made participants get to know each other better. On the second day, participants enjoyed a tour of the city centre of Bursa under the sunny weather. Last but not least, on the last day some of the participants visited a nearby village that still preserves local traditional architecture. The highlights of the ICTM training include the 15-minute yoga session delivered to participants on the last day of the training by an experienced teacher from Eurospeak, who is also yoga-certified.

The next training will take place in Zaragosa, in Spain and it will be hosted by Egestionpyme.
